Wild Encounter

The Indian landmass is home to a large variety of flora and fauna. India has an amazingly wide variety of wildlife animals and birds that live in the diverse terrain of the country. From ferocious Royal Bengal tigers to Asiatic Elephants, India houses this huge variety of animals in its 89 national parks, 18 Bio-Reserves and more than 400 wildlife sanctuaries.

Wildlife in North Indian

The North Indian region hosts about 500 species of mammals, 2000 varieties of birds and 30,000 types of insects, besides being home to a wide range of fish, amphibians and reptiles. The wildlife of North India includes animals such as the elephants, tigers, leopards, snow leopards, chital, fox, Tibetan Sand Fox, Rhesus Monkey, langurs, jungle cats, hyenas, jackals etc.

Wildlife in Eastern India
The wildlife of Eastern India is constituted by wild buffaloes, rhinoceros, Pigmy Hog, Hispid Hare etc. The North Eastern states support the largest bird biodiversity in the Orient and play host to as many as 850 varieties of birds.

Wildlife in Western India
The wildlife in the western part of India is rich and diverse. Western India is teeming with flora and fauna and boasts of a number of spectacular wildlife sanctuaries and national parks that abound in Asiatic Lions, Blackbucks, Indian Wild Ass, Olive Ridley Turtles, Eels, Wolves and Desert Cats. Western India also has marine wildlife sanctuaries that are actively involved in the conservation of endangered Ridley turtles, shrimps, sponges, green sea urchins and dolphins.

Wildlife in South India
The Southern part of India is one of the richest parts of the country in terms of flora and fauna.Some of the important of the important national parks and wildlife sanctuaries of South India are the Mudumalai National Park in Tamil Nadu, Bandipur National Park in Karnataka, Parambikulam National Park in Kerala, the Silent Valley National Park in Kerala, the Wayanad National Park in Kerala and the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary situated in the Western Ghats.

Wildlife in Central India
Due to its diverse terrain, Central India is a huge reservoir of flora and fauna. Central India has about 35 wildlife sanctuaries dedicated to the conservation of endemic and endangered species. Some of the popular wildlife sanctuaries in Central India are the Kanha National Park, Bandhavgarh National Park, Madhav National Park, Sanjay National Park, Indravati National Park, Narsinghgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, Bori Wildlife Sanctuary, Pachmarhi Wildlife Sanctuary etc.

Itinerary

Day 01 (Arrive Delhi)
On arrival at Delhi international airport, look for our representative in the arrival area- who will be holding a placard with your name. You will thereafter be met and transferred to hotel. Overnight at Delhi.
Day 02 (Delhi)
After breakfast, proceed for a tour of Delhi. First visit Old Delhi, Visit Jama Masjid, the largest mosque built between years 1644-1658, during the reign of Emperor Shahjahan. Enjoy a cycle rickshaw ride through the famous Chandni Chowk Bazaars, once the shopping avenue for Mughal royalty and the oldest marketplace of the city. Drive past the Red sandstone walled Red Fort, also built by Emperor Shahjahan. Next visit Raj Ghat, the cremation ground of Mahatma Gandhi), The “Father of the nation”. In New Delhi. Visit India Gate, The war memorial arch, India Gate, was built by the British in the honor of the 70000 Indian soldiers, who lost their lives in the First World War and Second Afghan War. Afterwards drive past Rashtrapati Bhavan (President Palace), adjoining Government Buildings, Parliament house and drive through Rajpath, the royal street of New Delhi. Humayun’s Tomb, built by the orders of Humayun's widow, Hamida Banu Begum, starting in 1562. It took 8 years for the tomb to get completed. The structure is built with red sandstone, whereas white and black marble has been used largely in the borders. Visit Qutab Minar is built in Indo- Islamic style and has five stories. It is one of the highest stone towers in India and has a diameter of about 14.32 meters/47 feet at the base and about 2.75 meters/9 feet the top. Overnight at Delhi.
Day 03 (Delhi | Agra) - 210 Kms. / 5 hrs. drive
After a leisurely breakfast, check-out and drive to Agra. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. On arrival, visit Agra Fort. The Fort was built by Akbar in 1565 and further developed by successive generations. This well-preserved fortress built of red-sandstone dominates a bend of the river Yamuna-- with a magnificent view of the Taj. The interior boasts of May grand buildings which include the Royal Pavilions, the Diwan-e-Am (hall of public audience) and Diwan-e-khas (hall of private audience- usually reserved for other kings and dignitaries. Later enjoy Sunset visit to The Taj Mahal - a monument of love from the Mughal Emperor Shāh Jahān which took 22 years to build and completed in 1653, in memory of his beloved wife, Arjumand Bano Begum, also known as Mumtāz Mahal. Situated on the banks of the River Yamuna, the Taj Mahal stands at the northern end of formal gardens. The white marble came from Makrana in Rajasthan and the red sandstone from Fatehpur Sikri. Precious stones like jade, crystal, turquoise, lapis lazuli, sapphire, jade, coral and diamonds were brought from far-flung places in Tibet, China, Sri Lanka, Persia and Afghanistan. It is believed that a fleet of 1000 elephants was used to transport the material. Visit Taj Museum, inside the complex. (Note that The Taj Mahal remains close on Fridays) After sightseeing, check-in at the hotel. Overnight at Agra.
Day 04 (Agra | Jhansi) by Train & (Jhansi | Orchha) - 25 Kms. / 30 min. drive
After an early breakfast, check-out and transfer to Agra Cantt. Railway station to board train for Jhansi. On arrival, meet our representative and drive to Orchha. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Afternoon, tour Orchha. Visit Orchha Fort complex. Within the Fort complex we will visit Jahangir Mahal, built by Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo in the 17th century to commemorate the visit of Emperor Jehangir to Orchha. Raj Mahal built in the 17th century by Madhukar Shah, the deeply religious predecessor of Bir Singh Ju Deo. We also visit Ram Raja temple, palace-turned-temple with soaring spires & palatial architecture. Built by the King Madhukar Shah it is one of the most unusual temples in India & the only place where Lord Rama is worshipped as a King not as a deity. Overnight at Orchha.
Day 05 (Orchha | Khajuraho) - 170 Kms. / 4 hrs. drive
Post breakfast, check-out and drive to Khajuraho. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Afternoon visit Eastern Group of Temples, stand on the bank of the Khajur River. The Parsvanatha Temple This Jain temple is ornamented with sculptures that depict the mundane aspects of everyday life. Adinatha Temple, dedicated to the Jain saint 'Adinath'. It is richly emblazoned with lithe and delicate carvings on its three bands of sculptures. Shantinatha Temple is another major shrine of this group and is famous for the 14 ft idol of Hindu God Shantinath. Some temples of Southern group, Dulah Deo Temple and Chaturbhuj Temple are two temples that are worth visit. Overnight at Khajuraho.
Day 06 (Khajuraho | Bandhavgarh) - 250 Kms. / 6 hrs. drive
After breakfast, check-out and visit Western Group of Temples. Clustered near the left of the entrance, this group of temples includes some of the biggest sculptures of Khajuraho. One of the oldest surviving granite temples of this group is Chaunsat Yogini temple, dedicated to the Goddess Kali. The largest of the Western temple is Kandariya Mahadev temple, whose presiding deity is Lord Shiva. It soars to a height of 31m and is exquisitely carved with delicate details. Close to it is the Matangeshwara Temple, which is also dedicated to Lord Shiva. It still sees many devotees and houses an eight feet high 'shivalingam' (sacred stone). Afterwards, drive to Badhavgarh. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the major wild life of India and it is one of the India’s finest tiger reserves.. This Park lies at the foothill of Vindhyan mountain ranges of central India and it boasts to have the highest density of tiger population in the country. Now there are about 46 to 52 tigers one can spot here. The thick forest of Bandhavgarh National Park sits in a bowl encircled by cliffs and wooded Vindhyan mountains, and its plains have a number of grass and reed covered wetlands where Kingfishers dive and Egrets sit poised, hunch-backed, in the shallows. Up above, vultures nestle in holes in the sheer cliffs. Overnight at Bandhavgarh.
Day 07 (Bandhavgarh)
Morning and Afternoon Enjoy Game Drive in the park to explore the wildlife. Bandhavgarh is famous for the best park to spot Tigers. Apart from it, there are more than 22 species of mammals and 250 species of birds. Common Langurs and Rhesus Macaque represent the primate group. Carnivores include the Asiatic Jackal, Bengal Fox, Sloth Bear, Ratel, Gray Mongoose, Striped Hyena, Jungle Cat, Leopard . The artiodactyls frequently sighted are Wild Pigs, Spotted Deer, Sambar, Chausingha, Nilgai, Chinkara and Gaur. Mammals such as Dhole, the Small Indian Civet, Palm Squirrel and Lesser Bandicoot Rat are seen occasionally. Among the herbivores, Gaur is the only coarse feeder. Overnight at Bandhavgarh.
Day 08 (Bandhavgarh | Kanha) - 255 Kms. / 6 hrs. drive
Morning Enjoy Game Drive in the park. Afternoon drive to Kanha. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. The picturesque Kanha National Park is located in Banjar and Halon valleys in the Mandla / Balaghat districts of the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is spread more than 940 sq km in a horse shoe shaped valley bound by the spurs of the Mekal range the park presents a varies topography. This park was the inspiration behind Rudyard Kipling's unforgettable classic ‘Jungle Book’. The romance of the Kanha National Park has not reduced over time-it is still as beautiful. If one were to point to the middle of India, chances are he will pick out the forests of the Banjar and the Halon valley, the two forming the western and eastern halves of the Kanha Tiger Reserve, which have long been famous for their wide diversity of wildlife. The park was created in 1955 by a special law and, since then, it has dedicated itself in preserving a variety of animal species. Overnight at Kanha.
Day 09 (Kanha)
Morning and Afternoon Enjoy Game Drive in the park to explore the wildlife. The main wildlife attraction of the park is Tiger. Kanha is so rich in wildlife that the odds are titled in your favour. But while on a mission to find a tiger, one can easily catch glimpses of all the grazers, a Porcupine, many Gray Langurs, Mongoose, Hyena, Jungle Cat, even a Leopard. Other wild attractions in this Tiger country include varieties of Deer - the Barasingha, Chital or Spotted Deer, Chousingha, Nilgai, as well as the majestic Gaur or Indian Bison and wild Pig. There are 175 varieties of birds in Kanha. So any bird watcher can look forward to a full bird show. Overnight at Kanha. (Note that afternoon safaris remain close in both Bandhvgarh & Kanha on Wednesdays)
Jay 10 (Kanha – Nagpur) - 270 kms. / 6 hrs. drive
Morning Enjoy Game Drive in the park. After lunch, check-out and drive straight to Nagpur airport to board flight for onward journey.
